I love Electric Light Orchestra and Discovery is a great and overlooked album from them. I’ve been buying mostly black metal CDs lately but I did get one that isn’t metal. It’s Santana’s Abraxas, which is a brilliant album from one of the greatest guitarists of all time.

As much as I like this album, I hoped for a more melodic, up tempo approach. I was a bit dissapointed in 1992 and I'm still not comfortable with this album. And some of the lyrics are just naff. What the hell are crystal soldiers? I don't really care.

If you're a Sabbath/Dio nerd like me, Dehumanizer is a very interesting and problematic album. I can see it for the Frankenstein it is. Dehumanizer is a terribly strained, patchy, overthought and partly brilliant album. I can hear slabs of 70's Sabbath, 80's Dio, 80's Sabbath etc. And the stitches between the slabs are sometimes crude, almost brutal. This is a highly charming album, but it's not a happy album. Not at all.

Wow! This is the first I've heard of his death! Now, I should share my own personal "John Mayall Story!" I was working with a local Bluegrass/Country/Southern Rock band whose leader was a guy named Leon Poindexter back in 1977/78 in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. We were scheduled to open for a Mayall concert at the Sunshine Speedway racetrack the next day, but we were booked to play the Don Cesar (sp?) Hotel lounge on St. Petersburg Beach the night before. The stage was rather high and large, and a couple of sets in, I felt somebody tugging at my pant leg. Looking down, I saw a little guy beckoning for my attention. He asked if it would be okay if John Mayall came up and played one of my harmonicas? I said "sure" and passed the word to the rest of the band. I had no idea Mayall was staying at that high-end hotel that night! And then, the great man himself stepped up. He looked in my case, which held 12 diatonic harmonicas, mostly Hohner Golden Melodies and a few old Marine Bands. He then declared that he didn't like the "plastic" Golden Melodies and preferred to play the "wooden" Marine Bands. He chose one in Bb and my band launched into a blues tune in the corresponding key. I went and sat down in the crowd and listened to one of my early harmonica idols play one of my harps for the rest of the set. Great memory! "Brute" Bruttomesso

It’s refreshing to see Jay Weinberg’s statement on his departure from Slipknot. It seemed that the fans were blowing things out of proportion when this statement confirms that Jay seemed to handle the departure well.

What is annoying though is the fans are sometimes talking shit on Jay after Eloy was chosen to replace him, which is so ungrateful to see words in that mindset. I agree that he has moved on from the band. He met his childhood heroes, played with them and then he progressed to move forward while Slipknot are doing the same thing.

Follow The Leader was definitely one of those genre-defying record's that pushed Korn into greater heights, and helped them gain massive popularity upon the singles Got The Life and Freak On A Leash which are well-regarded as some of their best songs they’ve written. What makes Follow The Leader such a remarkably crafted record, is the experimentation, songwriting and lyrical content that vocalist Jonathan Davis being one of the most admirable singers in Nu-Metal for it's time, the album has tons of filler and great and I mean, great stylings. My favorites are Dead Bodies Everywhere, BBK, Justin, Reclaim My Place and Seed. From it's punchy production, great bass tone, emotionally charged vocals from Jonathan Davis, and outstanding musicianship, Follow The Leader is a album that needs to be heard for any fans of rock and metal all-in-one. Not my personal favorite Korn album, (my favorite is Issues) Follow The Leader is such a monumental album that still sounds remarkable to this very day.

@@TheStrongBoyz19 Thanks for your kind words! I'm a survivor from an abusive childhood when I was a kid. And the horrific treatment I got from my dad was horrible, and it taught me how to not parent your children like that. Korn's music has changed my life completely, and the lyrics of Jonathan Davis were even worse than what I went through. From songs like Daddy to Kill You to It's On! and so on and so forth, that's what defined me as a musician. If it wasn't for my traumatic childhood, I wouldn't be a musician. And like I said before, and I'm gonna say the same thing again: if it wasn't for Korn, I wouldn't be where I am right now as a musician.

i agree on you with the song all in the family, that song i could really live without, i know that they did it as a joke and it was just for fun, but still it does not add anything to the album and its just filler, i actually like the instruments of it but the lyrics were cringe, if i am gonna listen to this song i would just listen to the instrumental version of it because i like the instruments.

It doesn't say much for Iommi's judgement that he hired Patrick Meehan, a man who robbed the band blind for millions not once, but twice. People who live cosseted from reality in gilded cages, often behave like pitiful cowards when it comes to confronting the unpalatable aspects of life that the rest of us deal with on a daily basis with unthinking honesty, integrity and humility.

Cool to see more Slipknot stuff added to the collection as well as one of the best Devin Townsend albums Terria. Also cool to see you get Fleetwood Mac's Heroes Are Hard to Find. That's and underrated album from Fleetwood Mac. The Peter Green and Bob Welch eras are my favorite eras of the band.

Cool Slipknot promos & Japanese pressings you picked up, Greg. Nice Devin Townsend Japanese pressing as well. Lastly, nice to see Fleetwood Mac.

You’ve always been a Slipknot fan and you’ve been so loyal to that band and that’s OK. I’m the exactly the same as you when it comes to Tool, because I love all things related to Tool and that’s great.
